Our process.

We’ve developed a simple four-stage process that will ensure your website journey requires minimum effort on your part and that guarantees you get maximum value from your web design team.

Stage 1
Discovery call.

Schedule a complimentary 30-minute discovery call below allows us to address any questions and ensure we're aligned. During the call, feel free to share your ideas and I'll explain my approach. We'll also discuss dates and timelines. If you're satisfied and ready to proceed we can check our calendars and reserve your design day.

Stage 2
Let’s get you booked in.

Following our call I will send you a contract to sign ensuring protection for both parties. Along with the contract you will receive an invoice for a 50% deposit which secures your design day. Once the deposit is paid you will be officially booked into our schedule - and the excitement begins!

You will receive a Welcome Guide containing all the necessary details about the process allowing you to start immediately. I will guide you through each step of the journey.

Next, you will receive an invitation to join our private WhatsApp channel which we will use for communication throughout the project. This platform functions like instant messaging, enabling us to exchange documents, images and more. Say goodbye to lost emails and cluttered inboxes! This efficient communication method saves time and streamlines our interactions.

Stage 3
Your time for homework.

Our process begins with you completing a brief questionnaire about your project and website vision.

Next, you'll work on your design and copy assignments. You'll have a minimum of 10 working days to define your brand values, write your website text, gather images and create a mood board.

By providing me with all the content prior to our design day I can review everything and send you any additional instructions or clarifications as needed.

As a client you'll then embark on the initial steps of your design project. My objective is to make this process as seamless as possible for you. Follow the guide provided to learn how to find the best images for your website, securely share passwords with me and complete an online Discovery Questionnaire. This questionnaire helps me understand your business, goals and target audience. For clients who already have a brand and style guide we'll use that as a reference. Otherwise I'll make recommendations based on your website objectives and what appeals to your ideal clients. You'll also receive a link to a Dropbox folder where I'll collect all your content in one accessible location for design day.

Furthermore I'll provide a Website Copywriting Guide that explains how to create content for each of your website pages. Make sure to complete this work a few days before your design day. I'll regularly check in to ensure you're on track and offer assistance as needed.

Remember to start working on your brand discovery guide which will be included in the email as soon as possible!

Stage 4
Our Pre Launch Call.

On your scheduled date ensure you are available for feedback and training between 9am and 5pm GMT.

We will communicate via phone, email and Zoom to develop your website.

Prior to your design day we will have an hour-long call to review your homework and ensure everything is in order. During this call, we can discuss your mission, core values, business goals and objectives. I will address any questions you may have and confirm that we are prepared to hit the ground running on your launch day.

Before your design day we will also have a strategy call to gain a thorough understanding of your website goals and requirements. During the call we will collaboratively map out each page and create a rough outline of their contents.

Scheduling a strategy call with me before your design day is essential for establishing the overall objectives of your website. Without a clear strategy and goal-setting a design merely becomes an attractive brochure. Your website should function as your top 24/7 marketing partner, not just a decorative piece.

Stage 5
Your design day!

Here’s what to expect on the day:

09:00 - 09:20 - Kick-off Meeting

Our design day starts at 9 am with a brief 20-minute kick-off meeting during which we will discuss our objectives for the day and the design direction. This meeting provides an opportunity for any last-minute questions and I'll confirm that we're connected on WhatsApp.

You won't be required to stay on the call throughout the entire day, but please make sure you are available throughout the day for prompt responses.

Once the final payment is made the design process can officially begin!

09:20 - 12:30 - Design Commences

The initial phase of the design process involves setting up the website styles (colours, fonts, etc.) and creating the homepage.

In the morning I'll send you a message on WhatsApp, sharing your new homepage to ensure we're on the right track. You'll be able to see the colour scheme, fonts, content layout, and site navigation structure.

After a brief style revision, I'll proceed with designing the remaining pages.

12.30 - 13.00 - Lunch break

13:00 - 16:00 - Design Progresses

During this time you can sit back and relax as I continue working on the rest of your website, including mobile layouts and tying everything together. I'll also handle back-end tasks such as basic SEO, fine-tuning business settings and linking your social media accounts.

While linking your domain I may send a question or two via WhatsApp so please stay available!

In the final two hours of the design day I'll perform live edits through a Zoom screen share session with you. This includes minor design adjustments as needed (typically not much), text changes or additions and technical aspects like connecting your domain and processing Squarespace hosting payments. If any tech issues arise such as domain problems or unexpected glitches I'll take care of them. Additionally, I'll guide you through basic site editing, enabling you to upload images or update text as needed in the future.

16:00 - 17:00 - Handover

Towards the end of the day we'll join a video call where I'll provide a walkthrough of your stunning new website. If you'd like a minor revision, no problem, during our call I'll make adjustments to ensure you're completely satisfied with your one-day website.

Upon design approval I'll offer pre-launch website training so you can make updates and begin utilising your site.

You'll pay the Squarespace subscription fee and then I'll set your website LIVE and hand over the keys!

Once the training is complete the design day is officially done! I'll transfer site ownership to you and it's yours to maintain and update. Rest assured, I won't leave you hanging, I'll send you a guide on keeping your website in top shape with links to various tutorials.

For two weeks following your design day I'll monitor your website and be available to answer any questions via WhatsApp or email.

Now, it's time for you to celebrate!

Stage 6
Post-launch Support

A few days following your site's launch I'll log in once more to index your website with search engines, connect Google Search Console and debug on Facebook.

Afterward you'll receive 30 days of WhatsApp/email support.

When our day concludes you'll have an additional 30 days of support from me to assist with any confusion. However, don't forget that the Squarespace team is also available to help!

Questions we’re frequently asked:

  • Absolutely! As long as the necessary preparations are done beforehand.

  • One full design day, plus all the advance preparation time and post-launch support.

  • Squarespace boasts an exceptional support team ready to address all your inquiries. However, if you prefer to continue working with me, my services are billed at £45 per hour.

  • Complete my brand discovery questionnaire, assemble all your branding materials (e.g., logo, images, patterns, etc.) in a Google Drive folder for me and write the copy (expect approximately 1-2 days of preparatory work). Additionally, it would be beneficial to browse through Squarespace templates and select your top two choices.

  • A minimum of 14 days notice must be given to receive a full refund of your initial deposit. If you give less than 14 days unfortunately we’ll only be able to return 50% of your deposit. If you give less than 48 hours notice we will be unable to give a refund due to the amount of work already done for you in preparation of your design day.

  • Feel free to book as far in advance as necessary. To reserve your preferred date, a £475 deposit is required.

  • I collaborate with clients across various timezones, though a few hours of overlap will be necessary. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to divide a full day into two half-days to better accommodate our schedules.

  • Throughout the day, I will strive to provide realistic expectations regarding our progress and keep you informed during our check-in calls. If there is still work to be done by day's end, we’ll discuss what needs doing and come to a solution that is mutually agreeable.

  • Yes, although some challenges may arise due to the dynamic nature of this work. If we encounter issues that require adjustments, like reconsidering an initially chosen colour scheme we'll have to reevaluate and reprioritise our tasks. I will frequently inquire, "Is this a crucial component for the website launch?"

    The initial kick-off call aims to minimise potential roadblocks. During this call I will review all the features you want to include and provide an assessment of their feasibility within a one-day timeframe.

  • No, these additional features and integrations can be implemented after the website is completed. However, Launch In A Day clients are eligible for exclusive 90-minute, half-day, and full-day rates during which I can assist you in expanding and enhancing the website we create.

  • If you are unavailable on the design day and you’ve not previously cancelled then we will have to retain your deposit and cancel the project.

  • Usually, my schedule is filled several weeks ahead, so it's best to contact me as early as possible to reserve a spot. This also allows you ample time to gather all the necessary information and materials that will be required.

  • To begin, you must provide the copy for your website (the text to be displayed on your site's pages) and the images that you want. Additionally, if you have a logo or any branding elements, please make sure to supply those as well.

  • With a decade of web design experience including 6 years in Squarespace, I have designed more than 100 websites. My expertise has enabled me to create a specialised framework that streamlines the process and ensures rapid completion.

  • To reserve a place on my design calendar a 50% deposit is necessary. Upon project completion the remaining 50% is due which can be divided into two smaller payments if needed. Payments can be made through bank transfer or credit/debit card.

  • A copywriting service can be provided at an additional cost. Further information can be found here. Alternatively, you may wish to write the copy yourself, in which case we can provide you with a guide to writing website copy.

  • My base of operations is in the United Kingdon on the beautiful south coast Isle of Wight. Despite my location, I collaborate with clients globally and can be easily reached via email or messaging platforms like WhatsApp.

  • Not at all! However, you should have the text content prepared for your website. While having photos is advantageous, if you don't possess any, we can assist you in curating a collection of stock images.

  • We'll schedule your project date with ample time for you to finish your pre-work. However, we recognise that unforeseen circumstances may arise. In such cases, you have the option to reschedule your project date.

  • We will ensure fundamental SEO settings are configured (such as site title, description, and browser icons), but it is important to note that SEO is a distinct marketing endeavor that should be pursued after the website has been launched.

  • No. In order to secure your project date, you'll need to pay 50% upfront, with the remaining 50% due upon completion of our work.

  • Not at all! We advise against buying anything from Squarespace if you're not already a user. As a new user, we can help you secure a discount!

    You'll receive 20% off the annual cost of any Squarespace pricing plan.
