Adgestone Vineyard
Adgestone Vineyard is a small family run business located in breathtaking countryside on the outskirts of Brading on the Isle of Wight. Adgestone has the accolade of being the oldest and continuously operational commercial vineyard in England. Its original plantings of Seyval Blanc, first put in 1968 still remain. Many other UK vineyards were returned to pasture land. Decades later, new owners have planted new vines on the same land and have continued to support English wine growing. But they differ from Adgestone in that they have not been continuously operating.
Making award winning English wine is by no means all Adgestone does. In addition to their own wine and liqueurs they stock a great selection of Isle of Wight produce. These include beers, ciders, pickles, honey, candles and the notorious Arson Fire chilli products. Visitors can enjoy combining a vineyard tour with al fresco dining and live music. With a relaxed and friendly vibe, it really is an opportunity not to be missed!

THE CHALLENGE
Adgestone has had a website for some years, but the Covid epidemic brought into sharp focus the issue of needing to reach a wider audience who could not visit. The previous website did not have an e-commerce facility, an essential tool for increasing sales. In addition, the owners of Adgestone wanted their online visitors to be able to appreciate their love of wine and in-depth knowledge of every single step of production.
THE SOLUTION
Adgestone Vineyard really needed a website which would not only showcase their unique English Wines and Liqueurs but also their other local produce and vineyard tour experience. We made it easy for their customers to access this information and buy their products. Wight Square looked into every aspect of their business and created a clean, impacting website. We did this by using bespoke Squarespace design that featured every facet of the Adgestone business from their shop, vineyard tours and accommodation, to menus, special events and live music. The site was also optimised for search by incorporating key words and phrases.
